Virginia Jail VINE is the relevant specific-person service for participating local jails, including a matching Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center record when available in the agency feed. MPRSC serves five counties. A name match must therefore be checked against identity details and the custody agency before it is tied to King William County.
VINELink is not the MPRSC release log. Its data comes from the participating agency and can lag. A displayed release event is useful corroboration, but it may not preserve an unlimited history or state the exact disposition. The MPRSC current list is also current-only. A result that still identifies MPRSC supports current or recently reported local custody according to the displayed status. A VADOC institution belongs to the state route. A person can also transfer to another jail, a hospital, federal custody, or another authority. Register King William Release Alerts

A legacy Virginia brochure describes telephone, text, and email alerts, but contracts and interfaces can change. The live form controls what is available now.

- Complete confirmation and retain any registration reference supplied.
- Update or add registration if custody later moves into a different system.

King William VINE and NAAVI
Virginia has a sharp notification split. Local jail custody uses Virginia Jail VINE. State VADOC custody uses NAAVI. The VADOC notification page expressly says that NAAVI is not connected to local-jail VINE. A move from MPRSC to VADOC can therefore require a second registration.

VADOC lists state events that may include transfer, advanced release, actual release, parole interview, parole decision, escape or recapture, and other changes. Advanced notice is generally an anticipated date and is usually supplied about 30 days ahead. It can change. An actual-release notice means the person is no longer in VADOC custody. King William Notification Boundaries
Neither local VINE nor NAAVI covers a federal release. A sentenced federal person is checked with the Bureau of Prisons locator. ICE custody uses the ICE locator when the facts support that route. Federal pretrial custody may involve the U.S. Marshals and the federal court. Do not infer federal or immigration custody from a missing local result.
VINE also does not replace a court record. King William General District Court may show a misdemeanor disposition or a preliminary felony event. Circuit Court handles felony adjudication and sentence. A bond or dismissal can explain why local custody should end, but it is not the jail's physical exit log. Other holds or processing can delay departure.

Confirm King William Release Records

Useful fields include booking number, admission date and time, committing jurisdiction, release date and time, disposition, and a receiving agency when a transfer is lawfully shown.
Virginia FOIA requests may be made by mail, fax, email, in person, or phone. A written request fixes the scope. MPRSC says it responds within five working days, subject to the statutory written extension. The person requesting should identify the named booking and ask for existing records, not ask staff to create a narrative. Pairing that record with the VINELink event gives both timely notice and a firmer official account.
Read the sources in event order. A person can disappear from the MPRSC current list, trigger a VINE custody change, and later appear in VADOC. That sequence supports transfer to state authority, not release home. If the MPRSC record instead states bond and VINE reports release, the local court docket may confirm the bond order while the jail record supplies the actual departure time. Each source answers a distinct part of the question.
Keep the jurisdiction check in view. MPRSC serves Essex, King and Queen, King William, Middlesex, and Mathews. Its public list does not show the county in the grid view. Open the detail and examine confining, charging, and court agency information before associating the event with King William County. When those fields are not clear, include the known court or committing agency in a narrow records request.
Virginia Code section 53.1-133.02 permits requested notice of a local release, discharge, work release, transfer, escape, or name change through statewide VINE or a similar system. The law supports notification, but it does not turn the automated alert into a certified facility record. Preserve the alert and then obtain the originating record if a legal or exact factual question depends on it.

Registration details should also be checked after a phone number or email changes. A telephone PIN confirms receipt of an automated call, not the underlying accuracy of the event. Keep any reference number and use the service help line for registration problems. Do not rely on a secondhand alert wording when the original message or agency record is available.
Virginia's local notice law includes release, discharge, work release, transfer, escape, and name-change events. Those labels do not mean the same thing. Read the event, agency, and date together.
