MPRSC's live list is a current-custody product. Its grid has no photo column, yet the linked current-person detail can display a booking image with admission, agency, charge, court, and bond fields. No released-person gallery or archive was found. A current photo proves an intake association. It does not show the later release type, date, or return to the community.

Request King William Booking Photos
The strongest historical route is the MPRSC FOIA process. Identify the named adult and the booking date or number. Ask for the routine-intake booking photograph and the release or disposition record from the same admission. This keeps the image tied to the correct booking and avoids treating an arrest photo as proof of what happened later.
- Identify the full name and approximate MPRSC admission date.
- Add a booking number when known and a birth date only if needed to separate same-name records.
- Request the existing routine-intake photograph for that booking.
- Also request admission, release date and time, disposition, and receiving agency if maintained.
- Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate before charges exceed a stated limit.
- If material is withheld, ask for the code section and all reasonably segregable parts.
MPRSC accepts requests by mail, fax, email, in person, or phone. A written request preserves the scope. Verify the published contact before sending sensitive identity data because the listed name and email username do not match.
Virginia King William Photo Law
Virginia Code section 2.2-3706 generally requires production of a requested adult routine-intake booking photograph. A temporary exception may apply when disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing felony investigation. Investigative files, juvenile records, sealed matters, and other protected content may follow different rules.
The statute creates a strong official request route. It does not require MPRSC to maintain an online released-mugshot gallery, nor does it say every photo vanishes after release. The image should be described as a booking photograph associated with the specified admission and custodian. Calling it a release mugshot can wrongly imply that the image records the later custody event.

No King William Mugshot App
No official MPRSC or King William sheriff mobile app offering release lists or released-person photos was found in the official materials. MPRSC refers to a Securus app for video visitation. That is a communications product, not an inmate lookup, photo archive, or release database.
The distinction matters because an app logo or facility name can appear official even when the product serves another task. Do not substitute an unaffiliated jail-directory app. For current MPRSC information, use the official current listing. For a past image, use the records custodian. The King William 24-hour release process also confirms that no official recent-release feed was found.

King William VADOC Photo Records
A person transferred from MPRSC into VADOC is no longer solely in the regional jail path. VADOC may maintain a correctional image connected to state custody. That image is not necessarily the original MPRSC booking photograph. Search the VADOC locator to identify the correct state record, then use VADOC records when a state image or release document is needed.
A released state prisoner may appear as a supervisee rather than an inmate. A community district describes supervision, not current prison confinement. A correctional photo also does not prove when state custody ended. Pair it with a release date, notification-of-release letter, or signed Order of Release. For a person who never entered VADOC custody, MPRSC and the arresting agency remain the proper local photo sources.

King William Registry Photo Limits
The Virginia State Police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry has photographs for people legally required to register. It is a narrow statutory system. It is not a general released-inmate search, and it should never be used as one. A registry photo may be newly captured after release and should not be labeled as the MPRSC booking photograph.
Registry presence can corroborate that a covered registrant is in the community and registered, but it does not provide the jail's precise exit time. Absence proves nothing for a person whose matter does not require registration. BOP and ICE standard locators are also custody tools, not King William County mugshot sources.
King William Mugshot Removal Rules
Virginia section 8.01-40.3 creates civil liability in defined circumstances when a publisher or maintainer of charge or arrest history solicits or accepts value to remove it. The remedy can include actual damages or $500, whichever is greater, plus reasonable fees and costs, subject to statutory exceptions. It is not a blanket publication ban.
That law also does not order an official jail to delete an accurate photograph when custody ends. Commercial photo publishers and data aggregators may keep stale material, mix identities, or preserve an old custody label. They are not official proof. No commercial mugshot or pay-to-remove source is linked or endorsed here. Sealed King William Photo Records
Release itself does not expunge or seal an arrest, charge, photograph, or conviction. Virginia expungement and sealing depend on the case result and the version of law in effect. King William Circuit Court handles qualifying expungement petitions for local matters. A case that no longer appears in public electronic access may reflect sealing, expungement, confidentiality, or a system limit. It is not proof that no arrest occurred.
Juvenile cases are not available through Virginia's adult public case search and have added confidentiality. Do not seek juvenile names, release lists, or photos through adult MPRSC methods. For an adult image, use the custodian's lawful process and respect any withholding or sealing order tied to the record.
Verify King William Photo Context
Every image must be linked to the right person, admission, and custodian. Compare the booking date, facility, arresting agency, and charge or case number. Then verify the release separately. A news image documents that a publisher used the picture in a report. It does not show a later disposition or release. Third-party copies can be old, incomplete, or wrongly labeled.
A defensible description is “booking photograph associated with the MPRSC admission on the recorded date, produced by the custodian.” Avoid language that implies guilt from an arrest image. Ask for the release date and disposition with the photograph so the photo's historical context is not detached from the actual custody record.
King William Photo Responses
MPRSC says the normal Virginia FOIA response period is five working days, with day one beginning the next day and weekends or holidays excluded. When production is not practical in that period, a written explanation may invoke seven additional working days. The agency may produce records, cite a legal basis for withholding, release segregable parts with redactions, report that records cannot be found, or identify another custodian when known.
Charges may cover actual access, search, duplication, and supply costs. Ask for an estimate. A deposit may be required when the estimate exceeds $200. These rules do not create a flat booking-photo fee. A narrow electronic request tied to one admission can reduce both ambiguity and search work.
If MPRSC says another office holds the image, send a new narrow request to that custodian. King William Sheriff's Office may hold an arrest image it created, while MPRSC is more likely to hold the jail intake photograph. Ask which agency produced the file before using the image caption.
The MPRSC current detail can help frame that request. It may show the photograph, date of birth, admission date and time, confining agency, charge, offense date, court information, bond and bond type, charging agency, and arresting agency. The sampled detail did not show a release time, release reason, or projected date. Include enough intake fields to identify the booking, then ask separately for the release or disposition entry that supplies the later outcome.
Preserve the custodian's filename or production note with the image. That detail helps prevent a later state correctional photo from being confused with the original MPRSC intake image.
